International House Alumni

In 2010 International House will celebrate its 30th Anniversary. In the lead up to this occasion, the International House Global Wellbeing Residential scholarships will be launched, and with the help of Alumni, International House aims to raise $5000 by the end of the 2009. Here are some reasons to donate:

Giving to International House allows me to give back to a community in which I made so many friends and memories. I learnt more at International House than I did on the campus and my time as a Resident Life Coordinator is one of the most rewarding periods of my life. With the introduction of voluntary student unionism after I left, my small donation helps to maintain the community and activities that I enjoyed so much. Any one can give to I House—if every one of the hundreds of I House alumni gave $10 imagine what could be achieved!

To summarise the International House experience is to do the community, and wonderful memories grown there, no justice. You could say, however, that living together with peoples from so many cultures is much like indulging in a smorgasbord of the global delicacies – all day, every day.

I believe that living at college is the most rewarding and exciting means by which one can experience university. After all, text books, lectures and classrooms can only ever offer limited learning.

Ultimately, life’s true lessons are realised through doing, seeing and being. When, at the end of the day, you can sit with dorm mates and rigorously debate the big and small ‘stuff’ is when you have experienced the most pure and honest educative process.

I certainly treasure my two years at International House and wish to support its continued growth so that future students may experience such friendships, memories and life lessons.

Giving to International House was a pleasure after it had given me so much to me.
You can’t put a price on the time of your life.

My stay in International House from July 2000 to July 2004, was a magical one.. and the effect of the magic is still felt.  I discovered my self as completely - a new person.. and trust me, this new change was for the good.  East or West.. I House is best.
