Record Attendance at International House BYO Academic
International House held its annual BYO Academic on Tuesday night with one of the best attendances from the academic staff ever.
The purpose of the evening is to give students living @ International House a chance to mingle socially with their respective academics and enjoy an evening of trivia based on faculty and divisional facts,” said Alison Hemsley, Student Residence Manger of International House.
Students invite representatives from their faculties and 10 rounds of trivia questions directly based on each faculty participating are asked. “We had 25 academics in attendance, including the Dean of Science, Professor William Price and the Dean of Informatics, Professor Philip Ogunbona; Nigel Pennington, General Manager of Accommodation Services, four alumni, study abroad representatives from UOW and 110 representatives from International House. It was full house at International House,” said Alison.
And importantly, the winner ….. Science and Engineering tied in the trivia challenge, therefore an academic approach was required to determine the winner and a “Rock Off’ (Paper, scissors, rock) was held. The Dean of Science, William Price won, seeing the Faculty of Science the winners of this year’s BYO Academic Trivia challenge.
