International Student Programs

Events for 2012

The Illawarra Committee for International Students (ICIS) organises a variety of fun-filled, social events for the international students. Some of the events that we have planned for 2012 are:

Bushwalks - Also known as ‘hiking’ or ‘trekking’; this is an inexpensive way to see areas close to Wollongong. These bushwalks are free for you! Just grab a packed lunch, walking shoes and a camera and off we go!

Welcome Evenings - The ICIS committee extends a warm welcome to new students at the beginning of each session in its own trademark style by inviting international and domestic students and providing some finger food and drinks to the new students. Another great way to meet other like minded new international students like yourselves!

Friendship BBQs and Picnics -  Free picnic at the beach where you can meet Australians and other international students. Great time to make new friends and learn about other cultures! We have six such BBQs and Picnics planned for 2012. So make sure you're there!

Here’s what some students say about ISP:

“I like to say thank you to organize the events for international students, especially English Conversation Groups and Bushwalking. Hope to have more such  activities soon” - Jenny Lye

“I really enjoyed the trip to Canberra yesterday. I hope there is some more trip as such so that we international students can visit and have fun!”  - Tshering

“I go to the  trip with my wife and kid. It is very useful experience for my family to have a chance to speak with other international students and improve our skills of communication” - Natapong

“I wanted to write and send a special thank you for putting on the wine tasting evening. I had a great time and learnt so much about Australian wines!” - Priscilla

“I would like to thank all who organized the wonderful BBQ Saturday. I really loved and enjoyed meeting new students all over the world and really enjoyed the friendly environment”
- Ali Rafiei
