Graduation: Friday 20 July 2007

Sheng Chen was the first student to graduate from the new School of Information Systems and Technology in the Faculty of Informatics. He received a Master of Information and communication Technology (Research) at Friday morning's graduation ceremony.

Business Officer Manager at IBM Global Services Australia, Jason Jennings, graduated with a Bachelor of InfoTech. He was joined by his mother Sonia who is an Administrative Officer in UOW's Faculty of Informatics, his father Russell & his sister Amanda.

UniAdvice employee, Tim Nicholls, completed a Bachelor of Mathematics/Bachelor of ComSci with Distinction. He begins full-time work as a Verification Engineer at Andrew Corporation. He is joined by his mother Cheryl, sister Kirralea and father Owen.

Nicholas Huber graduated on Friday morning with a Bachelor of Information and Communication Technology (Honours) after completing a ground-breaking thesis on Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and the Australian market.

Lecturer at UOW's Graduate School of Business, Dr Martin Gold, graduated with a PhD in Informatics on Friday morning. His thesis examined the investment implications arising from the interaction of managed funds and financial markets.

Internationally renowned journalist and photojournalist, Ben Bohane, graduated with a Master of Arts Research (Journalism). His thesis had significant relevance to international relations, religion, anthropology and history for the Asia Pacific region.

Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Creative Arts, Dr Brogan Bunt, was awarded a PhD for his creative and theoretical enquiry into the motion of software art. He is pictured with his wife Deborah Jenkin and his father Professor John Bunt.

Faculty of Informatics Dean, Professor Joe Chicharo (centre) is joined by two visiting academics from one of China’s most prestigious universities. Professor Yuquan Zhu and Professor Zongkai Yang are from the Huazhong University of Science and Technology.

Friday morning's Occasional Address was presented by Mr Paul Lambert, Senior Executive Government Systems Integration and Technology at Accenture. He is pictured with Chancellor Mr Michael Codd AC.

Dr Kelly Newell received a PhD at the Friday afternoon ceremony for her work in schizophrenia research. She was congratulated by her husband Stephen Fowles (left) and parents Judy and Peter Newell.

Wollongong UniAdvice Student Representative, Blake Cochran, graduated on Friday afternoon with a Bachelor of Biotechnology (Honours) degree.

Indigenous student, Vanessa Cavanagh, graduated with First Class Honours from her Bachelor of Science degree. She was joined by her supervisor, Dr Michael Adams, who is a Senior Lecturer at UOW's Woolyungah Indigenous Centre.
