What is Easy Access IP?
The University of Wollongong (UOW) is offering a portfolio of technologies available to license royalty free under Easy Access IP to make it easier for companies to exploit university intellectual property (IP) in their products or services.
For licensees, Easy Access IP uses simple agreements to provide a fast-track route for the transfer of knowledge and expertise from university to industry, allowing product development with reduced risk.
For UOW, Easy Access IP helps to develop new relationships and opportunities that otherwise could be missed. Easy Access IP is aimed at maximising the UOW’s dissemination of knowledge while at the same time as fostering closer collaboration between the academic research base and industry.
The Easy Access IP process:
- UOW offers technology under a simple set of terms and conditions to one or more commercial licensees free of charge; and
- the licensee provides a statement of intent as to how it intends to use the IP to contribute towards the local economy or society, and commits to giving regular reports to UOW on its progress.
As an international partner of the Easy Access Innovation initiative, the University of Wollongong is working together with The University of New South Wales and Macquarie University, and co‐founding partners King’s College London and the Universities of Glasgow and Bristol. Together, Easy Access Innovation universities promote new ways of sharing intellectual property and adopting new approaches to make it easier for universities and industry to work together.
