Please see our flyer detailing the University Admissions Index (UAI) cut-offs for this year.

Information for you

UOW runs a range of programs aimed at prospective students, their families and you, as a careers adviser. These programs are designed to provide the information students need, to make the decision-making process easier.

Campus tours

At UOW, we prefer a more personal approach to welcoming prospective students, their families, and careers advisers to our inspiring campus.

By walking around, prospective students will get a real feel for UOW. The tour will be personalised according to the student’s interests and needs. A current UOW student will be assigned as the tour guide. They’ll be equipped to answer any questions the student may have.

Campus tours are available from Monday to Friday, during business hours. We ask that you make a booking (preferably a week in advance) by calling us on 1300 367 869. This way we’ll be able to secure appointments with faculty representatives during your tour.

Careers Markets

Careers markets offer prospective students a great opportunity to find out which universities offer what courses; compare various features and benefits of different courses and universities; and get to know universities and lifestyles that may not be all that familiar to them.

UOW sends staff and student representatives to many careers markets across NSW and the ACT with the aim of providing general and specialist information to prospective students and answering any questions they may have.

Find out if we will be attending a careers market in your area by viewing the schedule of careers markets.

Information evenings

Information evenings are held in Wollongong, Sutherland, Cronulla, the Southern Highlands and Campbelltown around August/September each year. These evenings are primarily aimed at Year 12 students and their parents, however they will also be of benefit to Years 10 and 11 students and their families.

Our information evenings give your students a chance to speak with University staff prior to UAC’s close of preferences date. These representatives are equipped to be able to answer all those frequently asked questions.

January Options day (change of preferences)

After prospective students receive their results, they should check that they have met all entry requirements for any courses they have listed as preferences. After they receive their results, many students may consider a change of course, career, or even university. This is the day for students to visit the University (if they haven’t already done so) and speak with Faculty representatives to explore all their options.

Link visits

A link visit is where a group of 3 to 4 current UOW students visit schools in the Illawarra, Southern Sydney, South Western Sydney, Southern Highlands and Shoalhaven regions. The program is primarily for Year 12 students, but can also be tailored for Years 10 and 11 students.

For more information, please call UOW on 1300 367 869, or email uniadvice@uow.edu.au

The Rural Ambassadors Program (R.A.P)

The R.A.P is a travelling roadshow of current UOW students who visit schools across NSW to speak with Year 10, 11 and/or Year 12 students.

Students visit schools in the Riverina, Albury, Griffith, Dubbo, Forbes, Parkes, Bathurst and South Coast of NSW regions. We make every attempt to ensure that the UOW student who attends your school is from your local area.

Careers Adviser’s day

Held in March of every year, this day is aimed at careers advisers and is designed to showcase any new, unique or interesting course offerings, facilities, and services available at UOW. By attending this day, you will be keeping up-to-date with the latest initiatives that will affect your students and their future careers.

The day incorporates short seminars/demonstrations by academics and students; an overview of any changes within each of the nine faculties; and a delicious lunch where you can network with your colleagues and UOW staff. To register your interest in attending this event, or for more information, please call UOW on 1300 367 869, or email uniadvice@uow.edu.au

Bridging courses

There are three types of bridging courses available at UOW:

  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Physics

These courses are for students who have been accepted (or have already enrolled) into a degree and who need background in an area they have not covered in their HSC (or equivalent).

Bridging courses DO NOT allow a student to overcome a prerequisite problem.

They should be completed prior to the commencement of lectures/tutorials.

Download a PDF of the applications form for these courses or contact UniAdvice.
