About the Wollongong Region

Wollongong (pronounced Wool-n-gong) is Australia's ninth largest city, 80 kilometres south of the central business district of Sydney and less than an hour from Sydney International Airport. A vibrant bustling, multicultural city, the Illawarra region, including the City of Wollongong, has a population of around 300, 000. It is easily accessible by air, rail and coach and of course by car. The combination of lifestyle, natural beauty, culture and entertainment of this thriving cosmopolitan city is why more and more people are discovering Wollongong as a place to visit, holiday and study.
