Remember that there are more ways than one! For example, if you want to grow your career in marketing, some universities may offer a Graduate Diploma in Marketing but other universities may offer a Graduate Diploma in Commerce (Marketing).

What are the entry requirements?
Please refer to specific entry requirements for each degree as specified in our CourseFinder, or in the essential information box, which is listed in the Postgraduate course information brochures.
For Postgraduate coursework programs generally, applicants must complete a Bachelor degree or equivalent.
In some circumstances applicants without a Bachelor degree may qualify for entry into a Graduate Certificate program based on other relevant qualifications or professional experience.
For Postgraduate research programs generally, applicants must complete a Bachelor degree with Honours or equivalent.
Applicants for a Masters by Research or Doctoral program who do not have a Bachelor degree with Honours may still be considered for entry. It may be necessary for applicants to complete additional preliminary study.

FAQs
Question: What types of qualifications are available?
Answer:
Undergraduate degrees
The first level of tertiary study. A program of study requiring three to four years of full-time study (or part-time equivalent).

Postgraduate programs
The second level of tertiary study (you can choose between coursework or research). The time taken to complete a postgraduate program varies between six months and three years of full-time study (or part-time equivalent).
Types of programs include:
- Graduate Certificate (coursework)
- Graduate Diploma (coursework)
- Masters by Coursework (coursework)
- Masters by Research (research)
- Doctor of Philosophy (research)
- Professional Doctorates (research).
Question: Can I get advanced standing for any previous studies?
Answer: In special circumstances, a limited amount of advanced standing (credit) may be granted in some courses. The normal maximum is 25% of the course the student plans to undertake and will only be granted for previous studies at the same postgraduate level.
Question: Do I need a Bachelor degree to gain entry? Will my work history help me gain entry?
Answer: In some circumstances applicants without a Bachelor degree may qualify for entry into a Graduate Certificate program based on other relevant qualifications or professional experience.
Question: What happens after I've put in my application?
Answer: The time it takes to process your application depends on whether it is for a coursework or research program. It also depends on whether your application is being assessed by UniAdvice or by the Faculty. It also depends on what time of the year, you are applying.
As a guide, within approximately 2 – 6 weeks of submitting your application you will receive:
- a letter of offer, if successful*
- information about alternative entry paths, if appropriate.
If you have any conditions noted in your offer letter, you will also need to satisfy these conditions prior to enrolment.
*Consideration of applications to the Faculty of Creative Arts may take up to two months. After applications are reviewed, selected applicants will be invited to attend an interview.
Question: When does semester/session start?
Answer: That depends on whether you are taking a postgraduate program with the Graduate School of Business Sydney. Students of postgraduate coursework degrees offered the Graduate School of Business Sydney have the option of starting in one of four intakes throughout the year. Students of the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) will start in Intake A (Jan/Feb).
If you are taking a postgraduate program within one of our other faculties, the sessions will fall in line with the University's normal academic year.
Question: Can I start my studies mid-year?
Answer: It may be possible to commence your studies in Spring session (beginning mid-July). Applications for this intake can be sent directly to the University. The available starting session(s) for each degree as specified in our CourseFinder, or in the essential information box, which is listed in the Postgraduate course information brochures. Please note, if you commence your studies mid-year your subject choice may be limited for the first session of study.
