The vast majority of engineers in Australia, and many around the world are involved in managing engineering assets. Every day decisions are made that affect the lifecycle cost of a company’s expensive assets and increasingly engineers are expected to demonstrate competency and transparency in these decisions.
Asset owners are increasingly handing over stewardship of their assets to others and managing engineering assets is rapidly evolving into a recognised discipline. Engineering Asset Management draws on evolving International Standards and best practice to equip asset managers to make rational decisions in an increasingly uncertain world. This course will assist both asset owners and asset managers.
The course structure provides progressive recognition and is suitable for engineers involved in investment, design, construction, operations and maintenance. The awards are:

Subjects can also be taken individually with attendance through the normal university program or specially arranged in-house delivery.
Entry is available to the program at various levels, subject to qualifications and experience. Credits for other courses such as Master of Business Administration are available.
The syllabus focuses on the business drivers of asset management. Specific topics addressed are: risk management; acquisitions and investment management; scope of works development; design of maintenance regimes; reliability and systems engineering, resource planning and management; contract management, management of people, organisations and change; and information systems.
The course applies a problem-based approach through a variety of delivery mechanisms including lectures, workshops, guest speakers, and individual and group projects focussing on your present asset management challenges.
Our capability is built on many years of practical experience in supporting major Australian and international engineering asset owners and maintainers such as Mass Transit Rail Corporation Hong Kong, BlueScope Steel, Carlton and United Breweries, RailCorp and the Royal Australian Navy.
Graduates have subsequently progressed to senior management positions in Asset Management, Engineering Design and Maintenance Management.

- Graduate Certificate: Relevant bachelor degree or diploma
and relevant work experience.
