Study break/University holidaysWhat are my options? If an International Student Exchange isnt for you, there are other options. Its important to remember that university holidays are generally much longer than you may be used to from high school.
The length of uni break, especially over Summer (November-February), often means there is ample time to embark on an overseas adventure before the next University session starts.
Summer holidays are generally in excess of three months the perfect chance to do the travel youve always dreamed of and reward yourself for completing a years work at uni!
Plus, by going overseas in the uni holidays, youll be able to get your travel fix without extending the length of your degree.
Have a look at the academic year dates for 2007 to get an idea of how long you might have for an overseas trip: 2007 Academic Year Dates:

Student ExperienceAs a reward for successfully completing my first year at University, I went to Europe, England and Ireland. After spending a week exploring London and the surrounding area with my best friend, we went on a 24 day Contiki tour of Europe.
Visiting ten countries, I made friends with over 30 international travellers who were all about my own age.
We saw many historic sites include the Eiffel Tower, The Berlin Wall and The Moulin Rouge.
I also had the opportunity to visit a German Concentration Camp, and in Lurcerne I even needed rescue assistance from the Swiss Army (yes
complete with their knives). I then toured Ireland for a week before returning to Australia.
University definitely didnt stop me from travelling. With five months of holidays a year, there is ample time to see the world and experience new cultures. In fact, the extra maturity and education I gained from being a uni student only increased the value of my holiday overseas.
