Questions:

What made you choose to study at the University of Wollongong over any other institution?
The University Of Wollongong has got the best IT school in Australia. My course has a 100% graduate employment rate, with one of the highest starting salary of any degree. Which means that when I finish, I will pretty much be guaranteed a high paying job!
Also, the staff/student relationship is very laid back and easy going. It's very informal, and all the staff know you on a first name basis.

What do you like best about UOW?
The support you get from the staff when you have problems. In other universities, you might need to book a few weeks in advance to see your teacher. At UOW, you can just knock on their door, and ask any problems that you might have. They are always willing to help out, which is fantastic when you are studying a difficult degree.

How do you feel the University of Wollongong is preparing you for the future?
The fantastic research facilities, combined with very supportive and great hands-on experience really enables me to go out into the workforce with the best preparation I could get from any university.

What’s your favourite class at university?
My favorite class is ECTE350 – Engineering Design & Management. This course is a simulation of the real world. You have to actually create a product, then market it, and then present it to Venture Capitalists to try and get them to take up the product. It’s very broad, and enables you to really get used to working with the big boys!

What kind of activities are you involved in on campus?
I have been a member of the Baha'i Society for the past 3 years. Working as the president in the past few years really builds a great relationship with the university, and you realise how many like minded people are out there. I've also been quite involved in a lot of the social functions at the university. I've attended many concerts, parties, and also a few clubs and societies functions. I am also involved in lunch time classes at the gym, having tried everything from Yoga, to Pilates, to the 20 week muscle building program.

What kind of career do you think you might like to pursue after University?
I would like to work in Fiber-Optic research. By focusing on high-speed data transfer in the final year of my degree, I can go out into the workforce with great enthusiasm and try and make my mark on the history of a new era in communication.
