Dean of Students
Appointment:
The Dean of Students shall be appointed by the Vice-Chancellor from among the senior academic staff of the University.
Duties:
The Dean of Students shall:
- establish and maintain through liaison with the Faculties and the Administration, an effective system for the provision of initial and continuing academic advice, including program planning and monitoring;
- in conjunction with Faculty Deans and Academic Committees, establish and maintain in each Faculty appropriate policies and practices relevant to the academic development of students;
- in association with Faculties and the Administration, establish and maintain procedures aimed at facilitating the resolution of student grievances of an academic or related nature;
- foster the development of inter- and intra-Faculty activities designed to enhance the educational experience and personal development of students;
- Deputy Chair of the University Education Committee;
- Director of Student Services, Student Equity & Disability Services;
- be responsible for such other matters relating to the academic experience of students as may be referred by the Vice-Chancellor or Pro Vice-Chancellors.
