‘So you think you can Engineer?’ is a summit for young women interested in a career in Engineering.
Participants will be exposed to a range of engineering disciplines including Environmental, Civil, Mining, Mechatronics, Materials, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer and Telecommunications Engineering. You will gain exposure to world-class engineering facilities at the University of Wollongong and visit local engineering industry sites. The Summit is also a chance to meet industry leaders, academics and other women with similar interests from across NSW and ACT.
Main round applications to attend this event closed on 14 August 2009.
The University of Wollongong will be considering second round offers for this event. If you wish to lodge a late application for consideration during the second round of offers, please ensure your application is submitted by Friday 2 October 2009.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Young women performing well in Mathematics and Science are encouraged to attend this event. Those with an interest in Engineering are also encouraged to attend.
Please note: Preference will be given to students commencing Year 11 in 2010.
DATES
The Summit is a 4-night residential camp held at the University of Wollongong from Monday 11 – Friday 15 January 2010.
ACCOMMODATION
You will stay in University accommodation with individual bedrooms and shared bathroom.
SUPERVISION
Attendees are placed into small groups. A live-in female leader will be allocated to each group.
Leaders will act as mentors as well as supervising girls, and are recent graduates or current students studying an engineering degree at the University of Wollongong.
COST
Generous sponsorship has allowed much of the cost of running the Summit to be covered.
Participants will each be required to pay $165 (inc GST)
This $165 payment, in conjunction with sponsorship, will cover meals, accommodation, resources and activity costs. Participants will only be required to cover costs of any additional purchases they wish to make while attending the summit.

Selection is based on the merit of answers provided in the application. Please ensure that you answer all questions in your application. Confirmation your application has been successfully received does not constitute a guaranteed place at the Summit.
Applicants will be notified in writing of the outcome of their application in October 2009.
