UOW’s support network ensures all students get the most from their time at university.
The Dean of Students oversees the welfare of students and resolves issues associated with admission, enrolment, assessment, progression and transferring courses. If a student has personal difficulties, they can make an appointment with the Counselling Service, which provides free confidential, professional and sympathetic help in times of difficulty, conflict or crisis.
Academic support
Class sizes are small; our size and relaxed atmosphere means you’re treated as an individual. Moreover, our academics are experts in their fields and, along with administration staff, are available to speak one-on-one with students who experience difficulties with their academic program. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders
Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders will find an understanding and supportive environment at the Woolyungah Indigenous Centre. The centre also teaches Aboriginal Studies subjects and offers access to an extensive Aboriginal resource collection. Careers Service
The UOW Careers Service helps students clarify and implement their career goals through personal and online support. Chaplaincy
Our Chaplaincy Service offers fellowship, personal counselling and guidance, leadership in biblical and doctrinal studies and in worship. Disability services
Access and resources are available for students with disabilities. The Disability Liaison Officer supports students during their enrolment and studies. Healthcare
A range of health and medical services is provided for all members of the campus community. Our general practitioners have bulk billing services available for general, pathology and radiology treatments. Other services include optometry, dentistry, naturopathy and acupuncture. Learning Development
The Learning Development Unit offers a range of free services and facilities including academic skills programs, English language workshops, individual consultations, self-access resources for undergraduate and postgraduate students, and faculty-specific programs. Library
Your partner in learning and research, the Library provides access to an unprecedented array of information and research materials including ebooks, ejournals, and databases; offering expert and friendly help – face to face or online; and online assignment resources. You can access electronic information resources via the Library's website 24 hours a day from home or University. Open 80 hours a week, with over 1400 study spaces and 300 computers, group study rooms, wireless access, laptops for loan and powered desks, there is a space for everyone. SEDLOs
SEDLOs (Student Equity and Diversity Liaison Officers) look after the welfare and equity of students, providing referrals and information on a wide range of issues including personal and financial matters, academic concerns, legal issues, accidents, family worries or emergencies. Student Computer Resource Centre
Information Technology Services (ITS) provides many services and facilities including training, user guides and the Student Computer Resource Centre, which comprises nine computer laboratories. Students have access to email, the internet, applications software and laser printers. The teaching laboratories also contain special purpose software for tutorials run by individual departments.
