There are a few additional factors you should consider when applying for uni, such as:
- scholarships
- early entry and extra ATAR points
- alternative entry paths
- where you’ll live
- taking a gap year
- doing a bridging course
Rewards
Firstly, you can get paid to study if you’re a recipient of one of our scholarships! We have many scholarships including reward for academic and sporting excellence, community involvement, indigenous students or simply for relocating to Wollongong.
If you’re a high-achieving student, and want to get more out of your uni experience, you may be able to fast-track your degree, and benefit from one-on-one mentoring and special access to resources through the Dean’s Scholar Program.
Early Entry and Extra ATAR Points
You may also be able to benefit from other special UOW schemes:
- Early Entry – guarantee a spot at uni before sitting the HSC
- Points to UOW – extra ATAR points for students who did well in HSC subjects relevant to their degree
- Bonus Points – extra ATAR points for students who are already locals
- Special access – for those who didn’t achieve their desired ATAR score because they were disadvantaged at school
Alternative Entry Paths
If you don't gain direct entry to uni, you can complete a Wollongong College Australia university preparation program. Entry to UOW is guaranteed when the course is successfully completed. There is a range of alternative entry paths to suit where you’re at in life.
Sound sleep
Living@UOW is a great part of the UOW experience, so if you would like to live at UOW you’ll also need to apply for accommodation in plenty of time.
Gap year
Have you considered heading off on a gap year? Better still, have you thought about the opportunities for international travel awaiting you at university?
Bridging courses
If you’ve enrolled in a degree and need background in an area you didn’t cover in your HSC (or equivalent), you can complete a UOW bridging course prior to starting lectures and tutorials. We offer bridging courses in:
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Physics
There is further information available on applying for Bridging courses.
If you still have questions, don't hesitate to phone UniAdvice on 1300 367 869 or Enquire Now.
Students with an offer of admission to UOW can register for a bridging course during enrolment. Bridging courses do not resolve prerequisite problems.
