Support Services & Facilities
UOW’s main campus is a tranquil blend of bushland and modern, state-of-the-art facilities – the perfect environment for learning. As an international student, you will have access to a support network that can help ensure a seamless transition to university life in Australia.
Student Equity and Diversity Liaison Officers (SEDLO’s)
Students have access to faculty-based SEDLOs, who can assist with orientation to the local area, homesickness, academic concerns, budgeting, legal advice, family emergencies and children’s education.
Learning development
The Learning Development Centre offers free assistance including:
- Academic performance programs
- English language workshops
- Individual consultations
International Student Programs
ISP provides non academic activities and support for international students and their families. These programs include English conversation groups, The International Friendship Program, an international student mentoring program and low-cost sightseeing trips. Read more ...
Centre for Student Development
The Centre for Student Development designs a range of experiences designed to develop skills and confidence to engage in life after study. Activities include leadership programs, community service projects, volunteering, and adventure projects.
Careers Service
The Careers Service assists students with their career plans and provides them with the skills to carry out their career decisions, as well as providing casual employment listings
Library
Home to half a million books, the library also has extensive electronic resources available 24/7 and roving librarians to assist with technology and locating resources.
Computer laboratories
UOW’s Information Technology Services provide training, user-guides and eight Student Central Computer Laboratories. Students have access to email, internet, software, laser printers and tuition. The campus has a wireless network, and wireless notebooks and network cards are available for loan from the library.
UniCentre & UniShop
UniCentre provides many services for students and staff, and runs eight food outlets with a range of cuisine's, including Asian and halal food.
Sport & Recreation
The Recreation and Aquatic Centre is a first-class facility, providing playing fields, all-weather outdoor playing surfaces, a 50-metre pool, tennis courts, gymnasium, squash courts and basketball courts.
Clubs & Societies
UOW has more than 60 clubs and societies on campus, from recreation and cultural groups to religious groups.
Cultural Activities
The UniCentre hosts regular concerts, shows, dinners and dance nights. UniMovies are screened weekly. International Week is held early in the spring session.
Medical & Health Services
A range of health and medical services are available on campus.
Counselling
A free service, which provides confidential and professional counselling during times of difficulty, conflict or crisis.
Childcare
Childcare facilities are available on campus for children aged 0-6 years, as well as before- and after-school care.
Religious Services
UOW has several student-based religious clubs, and is in close proximity to a Buddhist temple and mosque. The university has a dedicated building on campus for Muslim prayer, and chaplaincy services.
