How To Apply
If your child is studying for the HSC, they will receive application information and guides from the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC). You should also encourage them to become familiar with the entry requirements for UOW.
There are a few additional factors they should consider when applying for uni, such as:
Rewards - Scholarships and Special Programs
We have many scholarships on offer, some of which reward academic and sporting excellence, community involvement, indigenous students or simply for relocating to Wollongong.
Additionally, if your child is a high-achieving student and wants to get more out of university, they may be able to fast-track their degree and benefit from one-on-one mentoring and special access to resources through the Dean’s Scholar Program.
Early Entry, Extra ATAR Points and Additional Entry Schemes
They may also be able to benefit from other special UOW schemes:
- Early Entry – guarantee a spot at uni before sitting the HSC
- Points to UOW – extra ATAR points for students who did well in HSC subjects relevant to their degree
- Bonus Points – extra ATAR points for students who are already locals
- Special access – for those who didn’t achieve their desired ATAR because they were disadvantaged during their school years
Your Plan B - Alternative Entry paths
University of Wollongong College (UOW College) offers university preparation programs for those who do not gain direct access to university. Entry to UOW is guaranteed when the course is completed successfully. There is a range of alternative entry paths to suit where your child is at in life.
Sound sleep - Accommodation
Living on campus is a great part of the UOW experience, so if your child is moving to Wollongong to attend university, they will also need to apply for accommodation before the November 30 deadline.
