Mr Michael H Codd, AC
Qualifications: B.Ec(Hons) ( Adelaide ) 1961
Mr Codd was appointed Chancellor of the University of Wollongong in October 1997 and chairs the University Council. He also chairs the Ceremonial and Honorary Awards Committee and the Council Nominations Committee.
Mr Codd worked for 30 years for the Australian Government, the first seven years as a statistician and for most of the following 23 years in the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.
In that Department, Mr Codd held the following positions:
- Deputy Secretary of Prime Minister and Cabinet in 1978 and Under Secretary in 1979
- Secretary of the Department of Industrial Relations in 1981
- Secretary of the Department of Employment and Industrial Relations in 1982
- Chairman of the then Industries Assistance Commission 1983
- Secretary of the Department of Community Services 1985
- Secretary of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet and Secretary to Cabinet 1986-1992
Mr Codd also currently holds positions as a Director of:
- Qantas Airways Ltd (since 1992)
- National Wealth Management Holdings Ltd, and related subsidiary companies (Beginning with MLC Ltd and related companies in 1996)
- INGEUS Ltd (since 2003, as Chairman from 2007)
Mr Codd has previously held positions as a non Executive Director of:
- Telstra Limited (1992-1999)
- IBM Australia (1993-1998)
- Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (as Deputy Chairman from 1996-2001)
- Menzies Foundation (1993-2001, as Deputy Chairman from 1996)
- CitiPower Ltd (1999-2002)
- Toogoolawa Consulting Pty Ltd (1993-2005)
Mr Codd was appointed a Companion of the Order of Australia in 1991.
