Applicant Requirements & Guidelines for Current Students

In addition to the general criteria listed below each advertised scholarship will detail additional criteria, please ensure you have read each scholarship's criteria carefully so that your application is properly completed. It is important that applicants meet all the the criteria for each scholarship they wish to apply for.

General Criteria

The following criteria apply to all Current Student UOW Undergraduate Scholarships:

An enrolled student at the University of Wollongong.
Australian Citizen or Australian Permanent Resident or holder of an Australian Humanitarian Visa (unless advised otherwise).

Outcome Notification

At each stage of the application and awarding process applicants will be notified.

Receipt of Scholarship application

Once your scholarship application has been registered, a confirmation email will be sent to your university email account. If a confirmation email has not been received within three days of submission please contact the Scholarship and Grants Office via email scholarships@uow.edu.au.

Interview

For those scholarships that require an interview, applicants will be contacted via phone or email and provided with the interview information.

Successful/Unsuccessful Outcome

All applicants will be provided a letter, which will be sent to the address provided on the scholarship application, advising them of the outcome of their application. If an outcome letter has not been received within one month of the closing date of the advertised scholarship please contact the Scholarship and Grants Office via email scholarships@uow.edu.au.

Interview Guidelines

After the closing date, applications are reviewed by a selection committee. Where necessary, interviews of short-listed applicants will take place at the appropriate UOW Campus or Education Centre. Candidates required for interview will be contacted regarding scholarship interview details.

If you are selected for an interview it is important to prepare by reading over the scholarship criteria. You should be able to talk about your degree program and how your degree program will support your future career aspirations. You should also be willing talk about any extra-curricular activities you may be involved in. Applicants invited to attend an interview should treat the scholarship interview like a job interview, and are encouraged to arrive on time and dress appropriately.

If you have certificates or any other documentation that was not included in your application, you are more than welcome to bring these along to the interview.

Application Checklist

Application closing dates are detailed in the advertising, you must ensure that you have either posted or delivered your application to Student Central by the advertised dates.

Please ensure that your application includes only the required documentation and that you are familiar with the criteria for assessment of each Scholarship you have applied for:

All Current Student Scholarship Applications

A completed Current Student Scholarship application form.
A brief cover letter and resume and outline of community involvement/leadership qualities and employment/work experience history (maximum 4 pages).
A photocopy of your most recent academic record.
A one page outline of how the scholarship will assist you in your university studies/career ambition.
Please submit three (3) copies of all pages of the application package single sided.
Additional supporting documentation requirements will be detailed in the scholarship advertising

Equity Type Scholarship Applications

In addition to the Current Student Scholarship Application, applicants will be required to complete an 'Equity (financial and/or social disadvantage) Questionnaire' and submit it with your scholarship application.
