Academic Achievement Scholarships
(Bega, Batemans Bay, Southern Sydney, Moss Vale Education Centres and Shoalhaven Campus)

Value: Up to $1,000 for one year
Number: One per site
Criteria:

Applicants must have attended school, or live in the areas surrounded by Bega, Batemans Bay, Loftus, Moss Vale Education Centres or Shoalhaven Campus (please contact your relevant campus for more information).

Applicants must be commencing study as a first year full-time undergraduate student studying towards any undergraduate degree offered at the Bega, Batemans Bay, Loftus, Moss Vale Education Centres or Shoalhaven Campus.

Applicants must demonstrate:

  • Academic achievement based on HSC performance or equivalent.
  • Positive motivation, interest and attitude towards chosen degree.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Motivation for studying chosen degree at Bega, Batemans Bay , Loftus, Moss Vale Education Centres or Shoalhaven Campus.
  • Evidence of leadership and participation in other areas eg, sports, the arts, employment, school and community activities.

Academic Excellence Regional Scholarships

NB: These scholarships do not require application at this time.

Value: $3,000 for the first year of enrolment, payable in two equal instalments of $1,500

Criteria:

The University of Wollongong will award scholarships to 100 candidates with the highest ATARs and who have also met the following criteria:

  • Have a course at the University of Wollongong as any of their first 4 UAC preferences; and
  • Live within the University's main drawing area (ie the Illawarra, Southern Sydney, South Western Sydney, Southern Highlands and the South Coast of NSW).

Engineering Scholarships for Academic Achievement

The scholarships are provided by the Engineering Faculty. Women are encouraged to apply.

Value: $3,000 for 1 year
Number: 30
Criteria:

Students must:

  • enrol in a full-time degree or double degree offered by the Faculty of Engineering (Civil, Environmental, Materials, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Mining, Physics, Medical Radiation Physics or Photonics)
  • have a strong academic record
  • achieve a ATAR of 95 or above (no bonus points)
  • attend an interview

Engineering First Year Scholarships

The scholarship is awarded by the Faculty of Engineering to all students who satisfy the criteria and have submitted a scholarship application.

Value: $1000
Number: 60
Criteria:

Students must:

  • enrol in a degree or double degree offered by the Faculty of Engineering (Civil, Environmental, Materials, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Mining, Physics, Medical Radiation Physics or Photonics)
  • achieve a ATAR of 90 or above (no bonus points)

Engineering Scholarships for Academic Excellence

The scholarship entitles 10 engineering students to $6,000 over 2 years plus guaranteed paid employment by the university or an industry partner during each summer vacation.

  • enrol in a full-time degree or double degree offered by the Faculty of Engineering (Civil, Environmental, Materials, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Mining, Physics, Medical Radiation Physics or Photonics)

Iron & Steel Society Travel Scholarships

This scholarship will be used for conference attendance, travel for study abroad and plant visits.

Value: $3,000 for 1 year
Number: 3
Criteria:

The scholarship is open to full-time students who are at the end of 2nd year in a Bachelor of Engineering (Materials Engineering) degree or double degree.

Selection is based on:

  • an excellent academic record
  • strong personal attributes
  • an interest in working in the steel industry.

Students incorporating the International Exchange program will be favoured.

Mathematics and Applied Statistics First Year Scholarship

The scholarship is for a 1st year student enrolled in a Bachelor of Mathematics and Applied Statistics through the Faculty of Informatics.

Value: $3,000 for 1 year

Criteria:

Applicants must demonstrate:

  • outstanding academic achievement
  • a high level of performance in mathematics at school
  • a strong desire to pursue a career in mathematics.

Applicants are required to gain admission to and enrol in the Bachelor of Mathematics or a related degree as full-time students.

School of Information Systems & Technology First-Year Scholarship

The scholarship is for a 1st year student enrolled in a Bachelor of Information Technology or a related double degree combination

Value: $3,000 for 1 year
Number: 1
Criteria:

Students will be required to enrol in the Bachelor of Information Technology or Bachelor of Business Information Systems or a related double degree combination.

Selection is on the basis of:

  • outstanding academic achievement
  • demonstrated interest in computer-related subjects at school
  • a strong desire to pursue a career in information technology.

Telstra Scholarships (Informatics)

These scholarships are for first year students.

Value: $8,000 for 1 year
Number: 6
Criteria:

Strong academic achievement based on recent academic records. Demonstrated interest and strong desire to pursue a career in one of the following areas:

  • Computer or Telecommunications
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Computer Science
  • Information Systems and Technology
  • Mathematical Finance

Students are required to enrol in a full-time degree (or double degree) in one of the above areas of study.

Tibra Capital Informatics Scholarship

Value: $7,000 for 1 year
Number: 2
Criteria:

Selection is on the basis of:

Strong academic achievement based on recent academic records. Demonstrated interest

  • Must be enrolled in the first year of a Bachelor of Mathematics; Bachelor of Mathematics Advanced; Bachelor of Mathematics Finance; or any mathematics double degree
  • A minimum ATAR of 90

University of Wollongong Double Degree Scholarships (all faculties)

The scholarship is available to 2 students from any faculty enrolled in a double degree.

Value: Up to $20,000 over the minimum duration of the undergraduate double degree, up to a maximum of 5 years ($4,000 per year)
Number: 2 students
Criteria:

 Selection is on the basis of:

  • outstanding academic achievement; most recent academic records
  • motivation and interests particularly in relation to the applicant's nominated career path
  • communication and interpersonal skills; evidence of leadership and participation in other areas such as sports, the arts, employment, school and community activities)
  • a minimum ATAR of 95.

Faculty of Creative Arts: Additional criteria apply to Faculty of Creative Arts students. Bachelor of Creative Arts applicants must submit a portfolio and a separate application form for interview/audition by the closing date. They must be successful in their interview/audition to be considered.

Bachelor of Journalism: Applicants also need to submit a separate application to the faculty.

University of Wollongong Undergraduate Scholarships

The scholarship is available to undergraduate students studying at the Wollongong and Shoalhaven campuses, as well as the Loftus, Moss Vale, Batemans Bay, and Bega Education Access Centres.

Value: The scholarship provides $12,000 to $20,000 over the minimum duration of the degree ($4,000 per year). The scholarship is paid in 2 equal instalments during the year.
Number: 3 per faculty (except Law - 2 only); 2 for students enrolling in a double degree program.

Criteria:

 

 

 

Selection is on the basis of:

  • outstanding academic achievement;
  • most recent academic records;
  • motivation and interests particularly in relation to nominated career path;
  • communication and interpersonal skills;
  • evidence of leadership and participation in other areas such as sports, the arts, employment, school and community activities;
  • and a minimum ATAR of 95 (93 for Commerce, 90 for Education, 94.5 for Law).

Faculty of Creative Arts: Additional criteria apply to Faculty of Creative Arts students. Bachelor of Creative Arts applicants must submit a portfolio and a separate application form for interview/audition by the closing date. They must be successful in their interview/audition to be considered.

Bachelor of Journalism: Applicants also need to submit a separate application to the faculty.

Women in Electrical and Computer Engineering Scholarship (Informatics)

The scholarship is awarded to a full-time female student in the Bachelor of Engineering degree with outstanding results and commitment.

Value: $3,000 for 1 year
Number: 1
Criteria:

 The scholarship is only open to female students.

Students are required to be enrolled in the Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical, Computer or Telecommunications) degree.

Selection is based on:

  • outstanding academic achievement
  • a strong desire to pursue a career in Electrical, Computer or Telecommunications Engineering.

Work-Integrated Learning Scholarships (WIL)

Number: Varies
Criteria:
  • Outstanding academic achievement based on recent academic records.
  • Motivation, interests and attitudes, particularly in relation to nominated career path.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Evidence of leadership and participation in other areas eg, sports, the arts, employment, school and community activities.
Conditions:
  • Scholarship holders are required to undertake a period (usually 4-12 weeks of professional learning experience each year (normally during summer vacation) with the sponsoring organisation.
  • Continuation of the scholarship is subject to satisfactory academic performance.
