Catching the bus to University and around Wollongong is inexpensive and easy. There are many buses arriving directly at the University, and lots of others that are available to you by using connecting buses. 

Travelling from Your Suburb

Free Shuttle Buses

Three free shuttle buses now connect more than 25 per cent of UOW students, staff and visitors with the Wollongong Campus, Innovation Campus and Wollongong.  

Paying a fare - using opal cards

The UOW Shuttle Buses and the NSW Government Gong Shuttle are free of charge.  If you are catching a regular bus service, you need to pay a fare.

Opal Cards are free smart card tickets that you load money onto and use for public transport across NSW.  They are the new way to buy a ticket for buses,  trains, light rail and ferries.  Most paper tickets are being retired by the NSW Government, so save yourself time and money by getting an Opal Card.  

Concession Opal cards are available for eligible full-time domestic students.  If you are an international student, you may apply for MyMulti tickets.  Information on how to apply for these cards and tickets, and how to determine your eligibility is available from Student Central

Adult, Child/Youth and Senior/Pensioner Opal cards are also available now.  If you wish to obtain an Adult or Child Opal card you can do so online or from the UniShop.  Information on how obtain a Senior/Pensioner Opal card is available from Transport for NSW
