Numbers stack up for researcher of the year

UOW Researcher of the Year 2015 

UOW Chancellor, Jillian Broadbent, AO, joined University Council members and Executive staff along with recipients’ families and friends at the 2015 Vice-Chancellor’s Staff Awards in August. Individual and teams of professional and academic staff were acknowledged for their efforts across a range of categories including for research, teaching and learning and community engagement. The Researcher of the Year prize was awarded to Future Fellow Professor Aidan Sims (above right, with Vice-Chancellor Professor Paul Wellings) from the School of Mathematics and Applied Statistics. Slow Mo Superconductors wins UOW Three Minute Thesis comp
Australian Institute of Innovative Materials PhD student Frederick Wells will represent UOW at the Trans-Tasman final of the Three Minute Thesis competition after winning the UOW competition with his presentation Slow Mo Superconductors. Faculty of Law, Humanities and the Arts student Claire Wright was judged runner-up and Fredy Munoz, from the Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences, won the People's Choice Award. 

Pair honoured for their research into archaeological dating
Multinational mass media and information firm, Thomson Reuters, yesterday (23 June) presented a Citation Award to two leading scientists from the University of Wollongong’s Centre for Archaeological Science (CAS).

Professor Lesley Head awarded Vega Medal
Sweden's most prestigious award recognising excellence in the fields of Anthropology and Geography - the Vega Medal - has been awarded to UOW Professor Lesley Head by the King of Sweden.
