Abstract

This thesis begins by conducting a qualitative analysis of a system of differential equations that model the spread of alcoholism through a population that was proposed by Sanchez et al [49]. Once the behaviour of this system of equations is understood it is adapted to incorporate the effect of both positive and negative media campaigns. The new model is analysed qualitatively to determine if this system contains steady state solutions and how they differ when different types of media are applied.
