Abstract

The anti-vaccination movement has existed since vaccination began. However recent publications and media coverage has led to greater public awareness of and participation in the movements ideas and practises. In this report, we form a model for the spread of the anti-vaccination movement through a population based on the SIR model for the spread of diseases. We later combine our model with the classic SIR model for the spread of a disease through the same population and investigate the effects of the anti-vaccination movement on the spread of the disease.
