While Professor of Computer Science
at University College Professor Seberry set up a Cryptography and
Computer Security Group which was the nucleus for the
Centre for Computer Security Research incorporating the Center for
Communications Security Research.
Dr Seberry started reading in Cryptology and Data Security in about 1981 and
has taught many classes in the area averaging 65 in a third year class and
20 in a fourth year class.
She has supervised 15 Honours theses in the area (10 of whom obtained First
Class Honours). She has had many successful PhD and MSc students working on
such topics as ``Security of Statistical Databases", ``Active Intruder
Detection: Some Aspects of Computer Security and User Authentication",

Professor Seberry started the AUSCRYPT/ASIACRYPT series of International
Cryptologic Conferences in the Asia/Oceania area. She also started,
in 1970, with W. D. Wallis, the series of conferences in Discrete Mathematics
and Computing, known as the {em xxth Australian Conferences on Combinatorial
Mathematics and Combinatorial Computing}. This series, now upto number 23,
is held each year, except those ending in 7 when an International Conference
is held, are held in a different Australian or New Zealand City each year.
