Considerations for upgrading iSCSI hosts

When upgrading iSCSI hosts from a release earlier than 7.1, special consideration must be given to target portal group tags.

Storage systems running Data ONTAP 7.0.x or earlier that provide iSCSI LUNs to hosts running any version of a Linux, Solaris, HP-UX, or VMware ESX software initiator are affected.

  In Data ONTAP 7.1, the iSCSI target portal group tags changed from the values used in previous releases. These tags are used by some iSCSI hosts as a way of identifying the iSCSI target provided by the storage system.
