Changing SNMP options for Data ONTAP and the RLM

You can enable or disable SNMP traps for both Data ONTAP and the RLM.

Considerations

The command options snmp.enable is the master control for enabling or disabling SNMP traps for both Data ONTAP and the RLM. Consider leaving the snmp.enable option set to on to enable SNMP traps for both Data ONTAP and the RLM.

Step

  1. Enter the following command to enable or disable SNMP traps: options snmp.enable [on|off]

    The default option is on.

Note: If you enable SNMP traps on the storage system and the currently installed RLM firmware version does not support SNMP, an EMS message is logged requesting an upgrade of the RLM firmware. Until the firmware upgrade is performed, SNMP traps are not supported on the RLM. For instructions on how to download and update the RLM firmware, see the Data ONTAP Upgrade Guide.
