Booting Data ONTAP at the boot environment prompt

You can boot the current release or the backup release of Data ONTAP when you are at the boot environment prompt.

Considerations

The boot environment prompt may be ok>, CFE>, or LOADER>, depending on your storage system model.

Steps

  1. If you are at the storage system prompt, enter the following command:halt

    The storage system console displays the boot environment prompt.

  2. At the boot environment prompt, enter one of the following commands:
    To boot... Enter...

    The current release of Data ONTAP

    boot_ontap

    The Data ONTAP primary kernel

    boot_primary

    The Data ONTAP backup kernel

    boot_secondary

    For a FAS900 series storage system, enter boot at the boot environment prompt.
