Welcome to UOW from Prof Jennifer L Martin, AC, DVC (R&I)
A very warm Wollongong welcome to delegates of the 2020 University Global Partnership Network (UGPN) conference.
We are delighted to host colleagues and collaborators from our partner institutions, the University of Surrey, University of São Paulo and North Carolina State University.
We have a very exciting program planned for the 2020 conference including
- keynote presentations from academics tackling global issues
- three multidisciplinary workshops focussing on selected United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs)
- Two lunchtime panels addressing equity, diversity & inclusion, and collaboration in teaching and learning,
- campus tours of UOW facilities and
- plenty of opportunities to network.
In my very first week as DVCRI at UOW in 2019, I was fortunate to attend the UGPN conference at North Carolina State University at Raleigh. I thoroughly enjoyed participating in the workshops, hearing about the incredible research being done across the four universities, witnessing the development of new partnerships and research connections towards a common goal, and exploring the arts, and culture and beautiful surroundings of the University and Raleigh city.
Now we have the opportunity to provide a Wollongong experience for you. I encourage you to seek out new interdisciplinary opportunities, and develop new research endeavours with global and social impact. We hope you enjoy your time in our beautiful campus in the glorious Illawarra on the south coast of New South Wales.
