Getting to Wollongong

Located just 80 kilometres south of Sydney, travelling to Wollongong can be as fun and adventurous or as quick and streamlined as you like.

Lying adjacent to the Pacific Ocean, there is no other location in Australia that can boast being just 80km south of Sydney – Australia’s leading financial centre and Asia-Pacific headquarters for many global companies, and 250km from Canberra – Australia’s capital city and the centre of government relations.

Sydney airport is the main gateway to Wollongong. It boasts international, domestic and general aviation terminals. Sydney Airport is located approximately 1:50 minutes from Wollongong. There are a few options to get to and from Cairns Airport to the city. Please see below for more details.

Directions to Innovation Campus

From Sydney: 

Follow the F6 Southern Freeway south from Waterfall on Sydney’s southern outskirts. When the F6 reaches Wollongong, take the first Wollongong CBD Exit at Mt Ousley Road. Follow this road to the main roundabout at the Princes Highway and turn left. Turn right at the third set of traffic lights onto Elliotts Road and right again onto Squires Way. The Campus’ entrance is located on the right at the next set of traffic lights

Alternatively, take the Grand Pacific Drive and experience coastal rainforests, quaint seaside villages and the 665 metre Sea Cliff Bridge all on your way into Wollongong.

From South: 

To access our Campus from the south of Wollongong, travel north along the F6 Freeway and take the North Wollongong exit. Turn right onto the Princes Hwy and continue to the North Wollongong Hotel, then turn left into Bourke Street. Turn left again at Virginia Street, go straight through the roundabout and turn left again onto George Hanley Drive. Turn left at the first set of traffic lights into the Innovation Campus.

 

Sydney Trains operates a regular timetable to Wollongong from Sydney on its South Coast and Southerns Highlands Lines.

If travelling from the domestic or international airports catch a train on the airport line to Wolli Creek Station. Disembark and board the next South Coast Line train to Wollongong. This journey will take approximately 90 minutes from Wolli Creek Station.

The Innovation Campus is located between North Wollongong and Fairy Meadow railway stations. However, if you are travelling by rail to the Campus it is best to disembark at Wollongong railway station and catch the free Gong Shuttle service to the Campus.

Arriving by train? We will be running a regular shuttle service from Wollongong Train Station, departing at 15-minutes past the hour, from 10:15 – 16:15.

The Gong Free Shuttle service operates on a loop that connects the Innovation Campus with UOW main campus, Wollongong Hospital, Wollongong railway station, the city centre, Fairy Meadow railway station and the TAFE Campus. Buses travel in both directions on the loop. On weekdays the service operates every 10 minutes between 7am and 6pm and every 20 minutes between 6pm and 10pm. On weekends the service operates every 20 minutes between 8am and 6pm.

Throughout the conference, the shuttle bus service will help you transfer to key program events, such as the Welcome Reception, Gala Dinner and Campus tours. Please see us at the registration desk if you require further information or assistance.

VENUE PARKING

The Innovation Campus offers a convenient short term visitors car park, P1. If travelling along Squires Way enter the Innovation Campus via Puckey Avenue and take the first driveway on the right. Download our parking map for more information.

ACCOMODATION PARKING

The parking at the is complimentary for delegates and is subject to availability (first come first served) and cannot be reserved prior to arrival.

To access the Parking at Novotel, please enter via Bourke St and through the turning circle at front of the Hotel. Please obtain a parking ticket at the boom gate to enter, and you will receive an exit parking pass when you are checking out at the hotel reception.

There is significant parking just to the north of the Novotel, with all day parking in and around North Wollongong beach, Stuart Park and George Hanley Drive areas.
