Traffic and parking rules and conditions
Traffic and parking rules
The Wollongong Campus Access and Order Rules (approved by the University Council) outline the regulations for driving and parking on campus to ensure that these activities on university grounds are as safe and equitable as possible.
It is important that you are aware of and comply with the Access and Order Rules as well as the NSW Road Rules.
Conditions of parking
The Restricted Parking Area Scheme applies to all University properties. Its enforcement is managed through the issue of penalty notices processed by Revenue NSW.
Restricted Parking Area rules apply 24 hours a day, seven days a week. UOW Entry Permit and Pay and Display Ticket parking conditions apply 8:30am – 6:30pm, Monday to Friday. A valid ticket or permit must be displayed. Refer to signposted conditions in each carpark.
In P2 and P5, 2 hour (2P) Pay and Display Ticket bays are available 4-6:30pm. Note that before 4pm these carparks are only available for UOW Entry Permit holders.
The Short-term Parking Station is in operation every day, and rates differ for each time period. Refer to Ticket Parking for hours of operation and fees.
Reserved, UOW Entry and Motorcycle Permit holders must display the permit on the driver’s side of the windscreen (fixed on the motorcycle). Permits and tickets must not be placed behind tinted areas. Pay and Display tickets must be displayed on the dashboard, correct side up.
To park in a mobility parking space you must display a valid mobility permit. This applies 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Parking Enforcement Officers regularly check all carparks. Incorrect placement or absence of a valid ticket or permit, and parking in designated disabled parking bays without a mobility permit, may incur a fine. Obscured or unreadable tickets or permits will be treated as invalid.
Penalty amounts for breaches of the Parking Rules and Restricted Parking Area conditions are determined by the NSW Parliament. Penalty Notices issued for breaches are processed by Revenue NSW. Refer to the Penalty Notice for information on how to pay or dispose of the notice. To obtain a review of a Penalty Notice, complete the Request a Review of a Penalty Notice form.
Report a lost or stolen entry permit
Report a lost or stolen Entry Permit to the Police Assistance Line on 131 444 and request a Police event number. A report can then be lodged with UOW Security.
Complete the Replacement Entry Permit Form (FMD-PAR-FRM-012) and obtain your replacement from the Financial Services Division. A replacement fee of $15 applies.
Possession and use of any stolen or lost permit is a criminal offence. The manufacture or use of a forged or altered permit is a criminal offence. Where an authorised person detects the commission of a criminal offence in these circumstances an authorised person may conduct an investigation and call upon assistance from police. The authorised person may use their discretion in issuing a fine for the offence that a valid permit is not displayed on the vehicle. This may also result in internal disciplinary procedures and the calling of police to pursue criminal charges.
Reserved, UOW and Motorcycle Permit holders must display the permit on the driver’s side of the windscreen (fixed on the motorcycle). Permits must not be placed behind tinted areas. Pay & Display tickets must be displayed on the dashboard, correct side up. Incorrect placement may incur a fine if Parking Enforcement Officers cannot check the validity of a permit or ticket.
