Carpooling at UOW - '3 for free'
Carpool to campus to meet people, save money and reduce your carbon footprint. Carpooling with three or more people will entitle you to free parking on campus in P4 Western Car Park, subject to availability.
The carpooling area is available for staff, students and visitors to the campus, as long as you are travelling with three people per car (including children).
Free carpool parking operates during session Monday to Thursday 7:30am to 5:45pm, and Friday 7.30am - 3pm. Out of session operation is Monday to Friday 7.30am to 3pm.
Carpooling is a cost effective, environmentally friendly way to travel. The '3 For Free' carpooling scheme is aimed at those for whom public transport options are not readily available or where it is not realistic to walk or cycle. Picking up additional passengers in the vicinity of the University is cheating the system and not in the spirit of encouraging responsible and sustainable transportation. Drivers acting inappropriately deprive other drivers, who legitimately carpool, a parking spot. The driver may be prohibited from accessing the carpooling area for a period of time, and registration and driver details may be recorded.
While there is not a dedicated carpool carpark at other campuses, you are still welcome to carpool!
Your safety comes first, so please ensure you set ground rules with your friends or colleagues. It is a good idea to meet on campus before travelling with strangers.
