How is this program run?
This program is running online only.
What will I do?
Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) Leaders are senior students who have previously shown competence in the subject that is being supported. You will be recruited on the basis of your academic performance and your organisational and interpersonal skills. As a PAL leader, you would run approximately 3 PAL sessions per week.
How will I benefit?
PAL leaders are offered significant personal and professional development opportunities of a diverse nature.
How do I apply?
PAL Leader recruitment process commences in November. Invitations to apply for PAL positions are emailed to students who have recently completed particular subjects and received a high mark.
If you did not receive an email invitation, you are still able to apply if you have completed the recruiting subject.
Students are advised to contact pass-enquiries@uow.edu.au closer to the recruitment period for further information.
Are there any special requirements for this role?
Yes, to become a PAL leader you must have completed the subject that you are applying to support, must have achieved at least a distinction in the subject and have a distinction average overall.
Minimum requirements for UOWx recognition
To receive UOWx recognition, you must complete the following:
- An "engaged student" will need to complete 20 hours in a calendar year.
- A "highly engaged" student will need to complete 60 hours in a calendar year.
