What will I do?

Peer Academic Coach (PAC) Mentors are senior team members responsible for supporting the skill level of current PACs and helping them to develop in the role.

Operating within the UOW Learning Co-Op, Peer Academic Coaches (PACs) are a team of trained, senior students who provide one-on-one peer support on a range of academic topics. PACs work collaboratively with students to develop their independent learning skills and help students to discover solutions to challenges for themselves. The role of a PAC Mentor is to conduct observations, facilitate debriefs and support the PAC team.


How will I benefit?

PAC Mentors receive multiple benefits including; enhanced communication, interpersonal skills, listening and teamwork skills. Furthermore, PAC Mentors receive the benefits of assisting their fellow team members. 


How do I apply?

PAC Mentors are recruited from the existing PAC Team. Applications are considered from expressions of interest. 


Are there any special requirements for this role?

A PAC Mentor must be senior PACs who have completed at least 2 semesters in the role of a PAC. More information on the Peer Academic Coach role can be found on the UOWx Peer Academic Coaches (PACs) page. 


Minimum requirements for UOWx recognition

To receive UOWx recognition, you must complete the following:

  • An "engaged" student will need to be complete 12 hours over a calendar year
  • A "highly engaged" student will need to complete 20 hours over a calendar year
