PASS leaders

PASS Leaders are current UOW students, who plan and facilitate peer led group study sessions across every Faculty and UOW’s Australian campuses. These sessions involve creating activities that engage students in the subject content while developing important study skills relevant for their discipline. This is a paid role with a commitment of 4-6 hours a week.

PASS Leaders receive comprehensive training and support to plan activities and use strategies to promote collaborative learning.

This role is recognised with UOWx as a co-curricular learning opportunity

PASS Leader Position Description

There are significant benefits in being a PASS Leader, these include:

• Working with a team of like minded peers and contributing to the campus community

There are four selection criteria for the role of PASS Leader for Wollongong Campus Positions:

1. Received a HD or D in the subject recruited to support
2. Completed at least 2 semesters of study preferably with a distinction average at UOW and will be enrolling into UOW in 2020
3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills as well as cultural sensitivity
4. Competent working independently as well as within a team

PASS recruitment at Wollongong Campus takes place annually and normally commences in September or October.

To apply for Wollongong Campus PASS Leader Positions submit the following documents:

• Completed application form
• A 1 page cover letter. Your 1 page cover letter should address the 4 selection criteria (FAQ 3), outline your motivations to apply and detail your experience or knowledge of PASS

• Please also address these two key questions:

  1. How do you define student success at UOW? 
  2. What is the number one piece of advice you would give to a fellow student to be successful in your course at University? 
• A brief resume (no more than 2 pages)
• A copy of your academic record to date (a printout from SOLs is acceptable)

Applications for Wollongong Campus Positions will only be accepted as a hard copy and are to be left at the PASS Program Offices, Ground Floor Building 19, room 19:G003C and marked to the attention of Sian O’Sullivan (PASS Program Coordinator).

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend an interview. If successful at the interview stage, applicants will need to complete an online module to further establish your suitability for the role. On successful completion of the online module you must attend paid training. Training is held over two days in February prior to the beginning of semester.

• A 1 page cover letter introducing yourself and what you study, motivations to apply and your UOW experience
• Please also address these two key questions:
  1. How do you define student success at UOW?

• A brief resume (no more than 2 pages)
• A copy of your academic record to date (a printout from SOLs is acceptable)
