UOW's Global Learning Online Programs have been designed to breakdown barriers and make global learning experiences accessible to everyone.

Providing opportunities to learn, connect or intern with universities and organisations globally, the programs offer a variety of options across a range of discipline areas, all without leaving home.

Applying for a global online program is the same as applying for a global short course program. Just follow these two simple steps:

  1. Apply directly to the provider of your virtual program
  2. Submit our online short course application to apply for credit approval
  • Global online learning programs are open to all students, both domestic and international. However, some programs may have their own additional eligibility criteria. Please refer to your preferred program to see any further requirements.
  • New colombo plan grants are only on offer to Domestic UOW students, not available for UOW International students. 

Can I receive credit?

Most global learning online programs are designed for credit in the same way global short course programs are. You can seek credit approval from your faculty via our online short course application.

Please note: Credit approval is at the sole discretion of your faculty.

Is funding available?

While OS Help Loans are not available for any global learning online programs, some program providers are offering scholarship opportunities. Please refer to the specific program summaries for further details below. For further information about funding options, please contact the Office of Global Student Mobility.

 Students must meet all funding criteria in order to qualify for funding, included but not limited to the following:

  • You must be an active UOW student
  • You must be an Australian citizen (or permanent resident for Endeavour Leadership Program funding)
  • You must submit an application to their faculty to receive credit for the program.

When can I participate?

There are a range of programs available to students at any given time. However, each program varies in duration and date. In this way, you are able to choose a program that best suits your schedule.

About:  
Learn how to launch your own start-up while actually getting your idea ready to pitch to investors with the HEX Ed “Innovation” unit running within UOW subject *BUS 301. The program includes classes on UX, UI & Figma; market validation; product design and more. You will also have the opportunity to experience international business perspectives through interactions with industry professionals and mentors across the Asia-Pacific region. Complete the program as an intensive over the Mid-Year Recess or spread it out over the Spring Session.

Application deadline: You can apply first Monday of every month
Grants available: UOW has prestigious Australian Government New Colombo Plan (NCP) grants available to support eligible students.

*Please note BUS 301 incurs a standard UOW tuition fee not covered by the NCP Grant.


Program: Virtual International Internships with CRCC Asia
Provider: CRCC Asia
About: Virtual international internships provide the unique opportunity to participate in real working environments from the comfort of your own home. You'll be fully supervised and supported as you gain industry knowledge from within your chosen career field. You'll be able to add the host company to your resume as you would with any other internship.

Program: MBA European Summer Program 2023: The Changing Environment for International Business in Europe (Virtual)
Provider | Partner: WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management
About: The WHU Online MBA European Summer Program is a two-week course on 'The Changing Environment for International Business in Europe' that is specifically designed for MBA students from our partner schools in their second year, who are interested in International Business, Finance, and Corporate Strategy.By participating in the online short-term program, you will have the opportunity to attend interactive live class meetings and work together with students from different locations via virtual breakout sessions.

Semester opportunities

Semester internship opportunities with funding

  • Gain work experience in the field of your choice through a 12-week international virtual internship, offered through three of UOW’s Third Party Partners.
  • All of these programs are FULLY FUNDED* through Australian Government funding, so your internship placement (normally costing between $1500 and $5000) is completely FREE*!
  • Internships can be part time, meaning you can complete while also studying. Academic credit may also be available for these internships, please consult with your UOW faculty for further information. Please note you must be receiving academic credit for your program in order to receive an NCP grant.

CRCC Asia Virtual Internship Program: Complete a 12 –week virtual internship in the field of your choice at an international company in Asia. Placements are available in the following countries: China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Korea, Republic of (South Korea), Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam

In addition to the internship, the virtual internship program includes weekly Google hangouts discussions, bi-weekly business webinars, an internship coach, and access to language courses and the CareerBridge internship curriculum modules.

We have several grants available to cover the cost of this program, offered through the Australian Government’s New Colombo Plan.

Dates: Internships begin every two weeks on a rolling basis. Students should apply at least 8 weeks prior to planned commencement of the internship.

CISaustralia Virtual Internship Program in China, Hong Kong, Japan, USA, or South Africa:

Complete a 12-week virtual internship in the field of your choice at a company in China, Hong Kong, Japan, the USA, or South Africa. There are grants available for internships in China, Japan or Hong Kong through the Australian Government’s New Colombo Plan , to cover the cost of the placement.

In addition to the internship, also included in the programs are cultural workshops, weekly newsletters, a preparation guide and session, an orientation, and a final supervisor evaluation.

Dates: Rolling. Students must apply 4-8 weeks prior to planned commencement of internship.
