Violence, abuse, racism and harassment have no place at our University. If you have witnessed or experienced sexual assault, harassment, domestic and family violence, racism, bullying or discrimination, you are not alone and it is not your fault.
How to report an incident
Everyone has the right to feel safe and supported on campus. We encourage you where it is safe to be an active bystander to eliminate violence, abuse, racism, and harassment. If you see or experience sexual assault, harassment, domestic and family violence, racial discrimination, or hatred, don’t put up with it – speak up, seek support and report.

If you would like to learn more about how to become an active bystander, you can express your interest in the UOWX accredited Bystander Intervention training. This training provides participants with the tools they need to safely intervene when they are confronted with harmful, threatening or inappropriate behaviour.

UOW Security is also on hand 24 hours a day 7 days a week to provide assistance, first aid and security escorts. You can call or request their services via the SafeZone app or by phone on (02) 4221 4900.
Reporting options
Report an incident to the University
We encourage you to talk to the University so we can take action. You can report an incident to UOW's Safe and Respectful Communities team.
Report to the police
If you or someone you know has been sexually assaulted, either recently or in the past, you can report the assault to the NSW Police Department. UOW Support Staff can also assist you through this process.
UOW 24hr Student Wellbeing Support Line
This free and confidential services provides specialist advice and support and is available via text or phone 24/7.
Make an anonymous report to UOW
It is possible to make an anonymous report thought the Complaints Management Centre. If you do make an anonymous report we do encourage you to seek support from the university or an external service provider.
Contact the SARC team
The SARC team is responsible for leading the University’s work to prevent violence, abuse and harassment from occurring on our campuses. They are also responsible for providing a coordinated response and support if it does happen.
