Guests attending a ceremony
Wollongong graduation ceremonies are held in the University Hall. There may be traffic and parking delays in the vicinity of the University, so please allow additional time for your trip to avoid arriving late.
There is free parking available for graduating students in the University Hall car park- P8 (enter via the first roundabout). To minimise parking congestion, graduates are encouraged to travel with all their guests in one vehicle.
If the University Hall car park becomes full, security gate-keepers will advise you of alternative parking locations on, or around campus. The University parking fees are payable for these parking spaces.
Each graduate is allocated up to 3 guest tickets which they will collect at the registration desk on the day of the ceremony. Children requiring a seat during the ceremony will need a ticket.
Guests must be seated at least 20 minutes before the ceremony and will receive a copy of the official program at the hall.
Graduation ceremonies are formal functions lasting around two hours and include several speeches. While the University encourages students to include their families in this special occasion, your courtesy would be appreciated to ensure that they do not disturb others. Guests with children may wish to sit near an exit so that they may easily go outside the Hall, should children need a break.
We would like to assist with guests' special seating requirements, or accommodate any mobility or disability issues, including vision or hearing needs.
Please contact the Graduation Coordinator by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible with the following information:
- Your full name
- Your contact phone number
- The date and time of your ceremony or the course/faculty you are graduating from
- You or your guest/s special seating or other request
- The total number of guests you are bringing to the ceremony (max 3 people)
Guests are invited to join the graduates at a reception following the ceremony, where they can mingle with other graduates and enjoy light refreshments. This is generally held on the Duck Pond Lawn unless the weather is bad; when you will proceed to the UniBar located near the University Hall.
