Taking a Break From Study

Taking a Break From Study

Do you need to take some time off? Students can take 6 to 12 months Leave of Absence. You must apply for a Leave of Absence so that UOW knows you are taking an approved break. If you simply do not re-enrol without following this process, your enrolment will lapse and you won’t be able to re-enrol when you return.

For information on what to do, see the below steps for:

New Students in First Session

If you haven’t completed at least 1 session, you aren’t eligible to take a leave of absence yet. If it is prior to session census date, you can withdraw from your subjects on SOLS and request a deferral of your offer.

International students should refer to refund information here, for conditions on requesting a refund of first session fees.

UNDERGRADUATE DOMESTIC - IN SECOND SESSION OR LATER

Domestic undergraduates are entitled to apply for up to 12 months leave of absence, and are sometimes granted more than 12 months with special permission.

If you have not yet taken 12 months leave, log into SOLS and select ‘Student Forms’ from the left hand menu. You will see an application for leave of absence.
