The best study spots in the Library

UOW Library is my favourite place to study on campus and it seems to be everyone else’s as well.

Here’s my guide to the top study spots in the Library.

1. Booths

These little booths are located on the Ground Floor of the Wollongong Campus Library. Each can fit up to 6 people so it’s great to sit and study with friends.

There are sockets to power up your devices and a Solstice TV where you can share your screen to the group.

2. Group study rooms

There are 20 study rooms in Wollongong Campus Library on Ground Floor, Level 2 and South Wing.

Some of the rooms can fit up to 8 people. If your group wants to be focused and productive, study rooms are the best option.

Bookable rooms are also located at Shoalhaven Campus Library and South Western Sydney Campus. Make sure you book in advance!

3. Private cubicles/carrels

These individual desks located on every floor at Wollongong, and are perfect when you need to concentrate! Some of them have sockets and even USB chargers.

4. Desk with a view

These study spots next to the windows are perfect if you need some refreshment! Enjoy the view and maybe the sun.

5. Quiet study areas

Need a place where you are safe from noise and distraction? You can boost your concentration and productivity in a quiet area.

Quiet areas at Wollongong Campus Library include:

  • The Law Library on the Ground Floor
  • All of Level 1
  • The area outside Labs 1 and 2 on Level 2
  • and all of South Wing.

6. Computer desks

Don’t feel like bringing your laptop to uni today? Head to one of these computer desks, located every floor in the Library. Yes, they are everywhere!

Just make sure you come to the Library early to secure a spot (especially in exam period)!

7. Stand-up desks

Accessible and convenient if you need to quickly submit an assignment, send an email or need a break from sitting down! These adjustable desks are available on the Ground Floor of the Wollongong Campus Library.

8. Armchairs and lounges

These cosy chairs can be found all around the Library, and are perfect for relaxing in the middle of your study. Level 2, near the staff area, has a great nook if you need a nap!

9. Postgraduate rooms

These private rooms are for postgraduates, Honours, Dean's Scholars and Graduate Diploma students. They can pick up Access Cards from the Library staff on the Ground Floor.

10. Shoalhaven Campus "Quiet Space"

The group study rooms are great for working uninterrupted. The couch area and the "quiet room" are great spaces to unwind and take a break, especially with the addition of the 'nap pod'. The staff at the UOW Shoalhaven are more than accommodating and very helpful. All these things combined make the library the best study space on campus.Jamie HartiganUOW Shoalhaven student
