Overview
The Graduate Certificate in Dementia Care is a clinically-based program that prepares practitioners for advanced professional practice in the specialist field of dementia. As a student you will use work-based learning to enhance client care and service delivery in the multi-disciplinary environment.
Subjects are available via distance or flexible delivery, i.e. web-based self-learning plus 2-3 days on campus.

Course Learning Outcomes
Students graduating from the Graduate Certificate in Dementia Care will be able to:
- Develop specialised person centred care knowledge for working with individuals living with dementia and their families.
- Apply person centred care knowledge of dementia care practices within interprofessional healthcare.
- Demonstrate cognitive and specialised technical and creative skills in reviewing, analysing and synthesising information to identify and solve complex problems.
- Exercise critical thinking and evaluation to develop new understanding.
- Communicate knowledge and ideas about theoretical concepts related to dementia care practice to a variety of audiences.
- Demonstrate independent judgements across a range of dementia care practice related functions and contexts.
- Initiate, plan, implement and evaluate broad functions within the dementia care practice context.
- Develop a work-based portfolio of evidence to demonstrate how the competencies in the Dementia Care Competency Framework were addressed.
