COUNCIL MEMBER PROFILES
Council Member - Ms Julie Gray
Julie Gray has been elected as the professional staff representative on Council. Julie is a graduate of the University of Wollongong completing a BSC (hons) with a double major in Chemistry some years ago.
After working in a number of commercial and government laboratories in the Sydney region, Julie returned to UOW in 1991 as the laboratory manager in the Department of Biology. Julie has worked in the Faculty of Science, and is now in the Faculty of Science Medicine and Health.
Julie has several areas of interest within the University. One is the role of professional staff within the academic organisation. A second interest is WHS and Julie has been active within this arena at the School, Faculty and University level. Julie currently chairs UOW's central WHS committee.
Julie is a life member of the RSPCA and the New South Wales Animal Welfare League. She is the current president of the Illawarra branch of the NSW AWL, and has previously been on the Board of Directors of the League. Julie also coordinates Border Collie Rescue in Australia, and runs a website to assist people who need to rehome their dog or who need advice.
