Mineral Resource Engineering

The Mineral Resources Engineering research (MRE) powerhouse is closely associated with the School of Civil, Mining & Environmental Engineering, and coordinates and conducts research activities of specific relevance to the mineral and mining industry. 

MRE undertakes a range of applied and fundamental research projects and provides specialist consulting and technical services to the broad sectors of Mining Equipment, Technology and Services (METS).

MRE’s research focuses on a spectrum of research areas that are mostly driven by industry needs and challenges, including major mining companies and the Australian Coal Industry's Research Program (ACARP).

Our aim is to conduct cutting-edge and world-class research for engineering applications in mining and minerals industry and maintain a special interest in mining health and safety, mine geomechanics, advanced mining methods, strata control technology, computational modelling and simulation, and operational research. MRE collaborates broadly with leading researchers and professionals in Australia and overseas.
