2010 ASEARC Committee Meeting
Held at the University of Western Sydney, Parramatta, 26 February 2010.
The meeting discussed =>
- Introduction, covering –
- project setup
- withdrawal of University of New England
- the evolving focus of the project.
- Role of Steering Committee, including –
- directing the project
- the future past the current project
- extending to other institutions
- managing budget
- other opportunities such as extending to Masters level courses, and data mining at University of Western Sydney.
- Progress on activities, including –
- 3rd year of running 2 subjects
- Applied Bayesian and TQM to be newly delivered in the spring session this year
- redesign of other 3rd year subjects which will be part of the project
- development of honours subjects for delivery next year
- expanding research capability including successful conferences and a new research coordinator
- increased consultancy profile with appointment of the new Director of Statistical Consulting Service and development of consultancy subjects
- resolution of sound and perception problems with the Access Grid Room.
- Logistical issues, including –
- access to eLearning from non-UOW sites,
- document sharing,
- use and coordination of the access grid room,
- issuing of course notes from UOW bookshop,
- management and resolution of issues across the different universities.
- Budget, including –
- reallocation based on withdrawal of University of New England,
- attracting new partners,
- opportunities offered by improved technology,
- progress against current budget.
- Future direction, including –
- move towards diversity
- adding a sunset clause.
