The Year 12 Road 2 Success Program includes two in-school workshops being delivered to students in their penultimate year with the goal of helping prepare them for the transition from high school. It is currently not on offer at Wollongong campus for 2020.
Year 12 Road to Success
Workshop 1 aims to have students identifying their post school goal for the following year as well as determining and navigating a range of key non-academic considerations and practical steps/requirements for making the transition from high school to their post-school destination be it higher education, further training (apprenticeships/traineeships) or employment. Students will identify and document a post-school goal and the key factors for consideration in achieving this goal such as required education or training and non-academic considerations such as transport, living arrangements, finances and juggling commitments. This workshop is typically delivered in Term 1 or early Term 2.
Delivered in late Term 2 or early Term 3, the Road2Success Workshop 2 explores in more depth the application processes that students will need to partake in to reach their post school destination.
Content will include applying to University (via UAC and programs such as Early Admission), TAFE and RTOs and the importance of being aware of the varying admissions requirements that can be encountered as well as applying for employment. This session will also involve a Q&A session with current university students, allowing Year 12 students to explore in more depth areas of particular interest or concern.
