A program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students from Years 7 to 11, the Koori Aspirations Program includes information for students about connection to country and identity. Themes include making choices, pathways after school, future and current learning, leadership and mentors, and managing competing priorities. Students will be invited to talk about specific points in a yarning circle and address questions in an informal setting as they learn about culture and art.

Locations: Batemans Bay, Bega, Shoalhaven, South Western Sydney, Southern Highlands and Wollongong.
Timing: Terms 3 and 4, 2020
Students in Years 7 - 10 will participate in an Aboriginal art and storytelling workshop as well as a yarning circle, which will be held at the school. Students will have a choice of a selection of themed artworks by Aboriginal artist, Natalie Bateman. Artwork themes will include making choices, pathways, as well as explore students’ self-identity and wellbeing.

Description: A free webinar for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in Year 11, transitioning into Year 12. The webinar will be co-delivered with UOW’s Woolyungah Indigenous Centre via Zoom, and offered as an online recording for students who are unable to watch the live presentation.
