Part of Molecular Horizons
The newly established Cryogenic Electron Microscopy facility is home to a group of established scientists, and is part of UOW's new Molecular Horizons research facility, which will be dedicated to illuminating how life works at a molecular level and solving some of the biggest health challenges facing the world.
The Cryo-EM facility currently houses a Thermo Fisher-FEI Talos Arctica electron microscope that promises to deliver high resolution protein structures. Temporary housing is in place for a Thermo Fisher – FEI Titan Krios, and a FEI Technai T-12.
Construction of the Molecular Horizons building is expected to commence (pending Planning approvals) in the first quarter of 2018, with an expected completion date of end 2019. Once completed, the Molecular Horizons building will house a number of high end transmission electron microscopes and ancillary equipment.
