Following the merge of UOW’s School of Law into the Faculty of Business in July 2020, the newly named Faculty of Business and Law will continue to provide Law graduates with relevant and timely updates that closely relate to your profession, through this quarterly newsletter.
It has been an extraordinary and challenging year. The School of Law continues its remote teaching and learning for the spring and summer sessions due to COVID-19, with a partial return to campus for a small number of our students undertaking mooting and other practical assessment.
I am proud to share news of yet another outstanding year for us in the 2021 Good Universities Guide. In the field of ‘law and paralegal studies’ we have, once again, ranked No 1 in NSW for teaching quality, learner engagement and overall learning experience; and ranked second in Australia for overall learning experience and third for 'Learner engagement'. This is a direct result of the hard work and unwavering commitment of our academic staff and professional services team to ensuring a high quality teaching and learning experience for our students. My thanks to everyone for their part in this achievement.
The School recently held a Live Broadcast event to mark the launch of our law degree into our UOW Sydney Campus, commencing from 2021. The theme of the event was ‘Trust and Accountability in a 2020 World’ with a raft of excellent panel speakers, including distinguished guest the Hon Michael Kirby, UOW Law alumni and academic staff. The event was great success! We share more with you later in this newsletter about the event, including a link to the live broadcast itself.
In closing, I hope you enjoy this bountiful newsletter edition. I send you my best wishes and hope that, wherever you are, you are safe and well.
