The UOW Health & Wellbeing Precinct, which will soon transform 7.5 hectares on the southern end of the Innovation Campus, is a key plank of the University’s Health and Wellbeing Strategy. Plans for the $500-million Precinct are progressing well, with the University finalising commercial negotiations with development partner Lendlease in March of this year. The current work program focuses on stakeholder engagement, concept designs and preparing planning submissions. The design consultants for the intoHealth facility are currently being engaged, and consultation with a number of UOW stakeholders on design will commence shortly.
The intoHealth facility will be Australia’s first primary and community health clinic to offer truly integrated, patient-centred healthcare with inter-generational learning. The next crucial step for the Health & Wellbeing Precinct is preparing and submitting the Development Applications.
The UOW Health & Wellbeing Precinct is poised to make a significant positive impact on health and wellbeing in the Illawarra and beyond. We will continue to engage with the Illawarra community and UOW Faculties and staff to progress the plans further and develop a Precinct that will revolutionise the integration of research, teaching, clinical practice and patient-led care in the Illawarra and beyond.
With construction planned to begin in 2022, the Precinct will provide an inspiring model for other regional areas across Australia and the globe – a crucial step in leading the change.
