Free assistance for your study needs
Learning Development offers assistance to all enrolled students who wish to improve their academic and English language skills. Academic skills workshops, self access learning resources and individual consultations are provided at the Bega campus.
Workshops
Learning Development offers academic skills workshops at the campus which include:
- Reading for Assignments
- Academic Writing
- Maths Support
- Exam Preparation
All workshops are completely free. To find out about these workshop programs contact the UOW Bega campus on 6494 7035. Timetables of the workshops are posted around campus at the beginning of each semester.

Peer Assisted Study Sessions - PASS
PASS (Peer Assisted Study Sessions) are:
- group study sessions that are facilitated by PASS leaders, who are current students and have excelled in the subject
- voluntary weekly sessions
- designed to maximise your understanding of the subject content and to develop study skills and relevant exam techniques
- attached to subjects that over time have proven to be challenging for students
- proven to produce higher subject marks for students that attend regularly.
- open to all students enrolled in the PASS supported subject
- a relaxed and casual study environment
- available online for some subjects

Careers
The Careers Consultant at the Bega campus is able to assist students in a range of ways. In particular, for students still studying at university it is possible to improve future prospects by establishing career goals and enhancing employability skills. Students are able to access the Careers Consultancy service for individual appointments to discuss tactics to create short-term and long-term career goals, manage aspects of a professional career via portfolio development, resume and formal application review, or to prepare for a personal job interview.
Samantha Morris is available on Monday and Tuesday at the Bega campus.

IT Services
Information Technology is a central component of the University of Wollongong's core business. IMTS provides assistance to the campus community including staff, students and partners of the University.

Counselling services
University Counsellors offer free and confidential counselling to students or staff who want to talk through and change areas of difficulty, conflict or crisis in their lives.

Student Support & Disability services
UOW Bega's Student Support Advisor and Disability Liaison officer is Ruth McHugh. email ruthmc@uow.edu.au.
The Disability Liaison Officer (DLO) can provide advice on how particular disabilities affect university study and information on resources available at the University for assisting students with disability.
